Children’s Clothing – A New Trend in Modern Society

Modern society revolves around concepts such as beauty and originality, ideals that have been embraced and implemented by fashion designers worldwide. Undoubtedly, fashion has always been a powerful means of expression, as the way we dress reflects our cultural provenience, mentality, personality, and even our feelings. In addition, fashion has the great merit of combining practicality with aesthetics, and could be perceived as “a pragmatic form of art”. Being influenced by many different cultural and social factors and permanently adapting to the needs and requirements of a continuously developing society, fashion has suffered a lot of radical changes over the course of time. During its ongoing process of evolution, it has generated many different styles and trends, revealing traits characteristic to each distinctive generation.

Despite the fact that it has created many tendencies and has evolved continuously in conformity with the society’s ideals and needs, fashion has only recently begun to pay equal attention to all categories of age. Although they were generally neglected in the past by clothing manufacturers, children nowadays form an important segment of clients in the fashion industry, enjoying an extensive and varied range of clothing appropriate for their age. The children’s clothing industry has only recently begun to achieve a good exposure and popularity, gaining a lot of ground over the past few years.

As the children’s clothing industry was growing in popularity, more and more fashion designers decided to focus their work exclusively on designing clothes for young children and babies. Soon, the offer became more and more diversified, children’s clothes gaining a lot in aspect and originality. Supermarkets and clothing stores began to fill up with ingenious and colorful clothing articles for children, lots of shops even specializing in exclusively selling children’s clothes. In contrast to yesterday’s children’s clothes – poorly designed and, let’s face it, quite dull – today’s children’s clothes are ingenious and appealing, stimulating their imagination and building their sense of aesthetics and beauty. Ranging from little boys’ suits and little girls’ accessorized dresses to cartoon-character costumes and even superhero outfits, children’s clothes are nowadays created to adequately satisfy the needs and desires of the very young.

Visibly enjoying “the attention” granted to them by the fashion industry, lots of children nowadays spend more and more time looking for the most interesting and imaginative clothing items they can find. Mesmerized by so many clothing models, designs and colors, many children can hardly decide upon a single item in particular! As soon as they step inside children’s clothing stores, children are immersed in a colorful and magnificent world, similar to the world created by toy stores. Funnily, lots of today’s children equally enjoy paying visits to both children’s clothing stores and toy stores – fact that reveals the young generations’ interest towards clothes, and thus their inclination towards originality, aesthetics and sense of beauty.

Seen through the perspective of their prices in general, children’s clothes have lately become increasingly more affordable. While a few years ago parents had to spend a small fortune to offer their children good-quality articles of clothing, nowadays they can buy appropriate clothes for considerably smaller sums of money. Several major factors that have led to the reduction of children’s clothing prices are: substantial clothes imports, the appearance of many discount-shops on the market and the equal distribution of the merchandise between supermarkets and clothing stores.

Online stores have also had a great contribution to the depreciation of children’s clothing prices, offering customers high-quality yet cheaper clothing articles. Children’s clothing online stores have become very popular, as they provide customers with cost-effective alternatives to similar, shop-purchased products. Online stores offer clients the possibility to choose among hundreds of different clothing items such as boys’ suits, boys’ shirts and trousers, girls’ dresses, girls’ trousers, girls’ capes, unisex clothing items, as well as various accessories such as ties, bows, shoes and booties – all categorized according to size and age. Apart from having affordable prices and an extensive offer, children’s clothing online stores also allow customers to purchase their desired products online, thus helping them save time and effort.

Gladiator Sandals – This Summers Hottest Trend

With a ton of celebrities wearing this women’s shoe trend, the gladiator sandal is by far the fastest must-have shoe of the season.

In keeping with the brand new theme that came out on 2007s runways, there has been “an insane love” for Roman sandals and gladiator boots/shoes “both on the town and the catwalk”, according US Weekly.

Gladiator wearing celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Lauren Conrad, Mary.Kate Olsen, Jessica Alba & Hilary Duff have also had a huge effect on making gladiators the hottest item this summer. In fact, according to the US Weekly edition summer 2008, “Nearly every famous celeb in Hollywood has been seen wearing gladiators……from big chunky platform heels to the casual criss-cross flats.”

On the topic of gladiators, online upmarket retailer ShoeBuy warns to “Be ready for a full-scale Gladiator Shoe invasion” in its recent magazine article “Shoe Searching”. According to ShoeBuy & Zappos, gladiators “pour out trendy appeal and no vacation is complete without a pair this summer.”

Gladiator Sandals / Gladiator Shoes

Hailed as one of the worst shoe trends of 2007, 2008 sees a new turn on the gladiator style with more sophisticated and finer detailing. Dainty straps and accessories and more feminine styling make them more practical. Just one look at elegant gladiator sandals is more then enough to change the minds those who are not to into the trend.

Part of the problem to the trend of last year was the look of the rough and touch style of the sandal, unless you were long like a runway model and had the long legs to go with it. Despite this, according to the Shoe Source, many shoes are increasingly wild and crazy-looking versions – including some very expensive, knee-high trends.

Gladiator Boots

Super-duty styles have come into play for Summer with gladiator boots and chunky platform styles. Some look as if they have just stepped out from the movie set with Russel Crowe. ShoeBuy describes these as “Highly Disgusting” but love a more feminine version from others. Even more crazy, looking like a pair of biker boots, the Marc Jacobs Gladiator boot, sure to be a gem with the Harley Burnouts.

Now, women’s shoe designers have made out on the gladiator theme by providing more than hundreds of choices. There are styles unlimited hitting the streets , so even the most conservative of women can sink their toe into the style. Rather then wearing skinny-strapped thongs, strappy gladiator styles are fast changing them as the shoe of the summer.

What to Wear With Gladiator Sandals

  • A pedicure is an mandatory accompaniment to any gladiator sandal or gladiator shoe.
  • Increased feminine styles have greater wear abilility and can work with any summer dress and this season’s drapey type dresses. Also wear them with hangy smocks and slim-fit denim jeans, or summer short shorts and caftans for the beach time.
  • Chunky, more manly styles look perfect with jeans, or mini skirts and shorts, as long as you have the nice legs for them.
  • Metallic or more detailed, gladiators will take you from the beach sand to bar.
  • Smaller frames with chunky legs should not wear any of the more heavy thick sandals and gladiator shoes and boots and go for something more feminine. browns & blacks also have the effect of making legs look thicker and shorter. Go for metallics and shinies to slim them down.

Gladiator Shoes, Gladiator Sandals, Gladiator Boots – The newest Hottest trend.

The best and quickest way to be on trend this season is to be seen wearing a pair of gladiators. But, before you become a fashion mess, choose wisely. Make sure you purchase a style that is flattering to your body style, serving to make your legs look longer rather than fatten and shorten them.

Casual Is the Mantra for Mens Fashion!

Men’s attire mostly consists of a pair of trousers in dark colours or a pair of jeans topped by a collared shirt. With changing styles and men’s designer clothes reaching new heights, the same old trousers and jeans have been given a totally different look. They now come in different fabrics and shapes. Bell bottoms, tights, elephant pants, low waist jeans, seamless pleated trousers, belt less jeans etc. have surfaced due to designers’ innovation.

Today in men’s fashion, the casual look is cool and trendy. A pair of jeans with a bright coloured red, green, or half sleeve shirt looks great for a day out with friends and colleagues. If it’s a slightly more dressy occasion, just wrap a bright coloured scarf around your shoulders, pull on a shearling jacket, and you are set to make a cool style statement. Get a pair of military boots, and turn up the jeans to show off your shoes, this is another cool look and a perfect trendsetter!

Denims are here to stay. They will never go out of fashion. If you are in love with denims, then the double denim look is definitely for you. Opt for the double denim jeans with a light casual shirt, or if you think you can carry off a denim shirt also with this ensemble, go for it! Sport a scarf to give a relaxed party look. Denim trousers paired with a casual shirt suits almost all occasions.

The look this season in men’s fashion is all about sporting a casual look with little bit of detailing. To your casual pair of jeans, tees and jacket, you can add a badge, or a contrast colour zip. To get unusual stylish looks that set you apart from the rest, tune into the Ministry of Fashion site. They have a grand collection of jackets, coats and blazers. You can choose from a bikers jacket, or a aviator jacket, or the happening shearling jacket.

Refined ruggedness is the key to men’s designer wear. It applies to your shoes and boots too. If you can pull it off, try out bright coloured ankle length socks with traditional suits, matching it to your shirt colour. Men’s military boots are making a fashion statement too this season. Military boots with bright coloured socks, a pair of jeans with brightly coloured shirt, or a leather coat with a scarf will complete the look, and floor any onlookers completely!

How to Repair Your Old Broken Fashion Jewelry

Like most fashion jewelry (a.k.a costume jewelry) lovers you probably have some old seemingly worn out rings, necklaces, or bracelets shoved to the back of your drawer or jewelry box that never get worn. The great thing about inexpensive costume jewelry is that it is easy to get your moneys worth out of it. However, why not get even more bank for your buck by breathing new life into those old jewelry pieces by reversing some of their most common issues:

Problem 1: Dirty or Tarnished?

Cleaning fashion jewelry is simple but choose your cleaner wisely. Only use a jewelry cleaner that specifically states that it is safe for costume jewelry and read the ingredients to make sure that it does not contain alcohol, acids, or ammonia because these can strip the gold or silver plate. Use a children’s soft bristle tooth brush for cleaning around costume jewelry stones. Its probably not be a good idea to immerse rhinestone jewelry because the stones can become unglued.

If your fashion jewelry items are only lightly tarnished a good buffing with a soft dry jewelry cloth may do the trick. For more heavily tarnished items a jewelry polish can work wonders.

Problem 2: Worn out gold or silver plating?

Because typical fashion jewelry plating is very thin it can eventually rub off from wear or become damaged from the use of harsh chemicals, creams, or perfumes. If this happens there are several options in gold and silver re-plating solutions that can be found online. Some are fairly simple and can be performed without the use of heat or electricity while others are a little more complex. I found one website in particular that offers a very good variety of plating options (e.g. immersion plating, pen plating) and general plating instructions for precious metals including gold, silver, platinum, and rhodium. It is shorinternational.com. Click on the contents and search box and then plating gateway. One word of caution: I would recommend buying only cyanide free plating solutions as cyanide is poisonous. For silver lovers there is one product that I have personally used that has worked well for me and it is called Silver Brite. This is an all in one cream that cleans, polishes, and re-plates worn silver on jewelry and other items. It is very easy to use and fairly inexpensive. Just rub the cream on with an applicator sponge or a Q-tip for small items and rub off with the buffing cloth that is included with the kit. The result is a clean, sparking silver finish.

Problem 3: Loose or missing stones?

If a stone such as a cubic zirconia, plastic, or glass has become loose or fallen out a drop or two of super glue will do the trick. Just be careful not to use too much. You don’t want the glue oozing out of the sides and causing the piece to adhere to your skin or some other object. Most of the time a single drop will suffice unless it is a very large stone in which case you may want to use two drops. If you cannot find the missing stone there are companies online that sell loose cz stones if you have a particular chain or ring band you want to salvage. Simply do an internet search for cz stones.

Problem 4: Broken clasp?

If your fashion necklace or bracelet has a broken clasp make sure it is the actual clasp that is broken. The problem may be a broken jump ring which is a tiny metal ring that is open in one spot which connects the clasp to the chain. If this is the problem it can be easily fixed. First identify what kind of clasp it is (e.g. lobster clasp which is shaped like a lobster claw and has a tiny spring loaded lever, a magnetic clasp which is just as it sounds, or a spring ring which is also spring loaded) then visit your local craft store or do a search online for jewelry clasps and you should find what you need. If the clasp is soldered on you will need to contact a jewelry repair professional.

Problem 5: Out of date:

If you simply want to add a new flair to your old fashion jewelry pieces you can simply mix and match. If you have a special pendant that you are especially fond of give it a new life with a more contemporary chain. Add new charms to your favorite bracelet or re-plate that old silver necklace with a shiny new gold finish. Be creative!

Fashion Industry Fueled by Bamboo Charcoal

Bamboo is referred to as “the Black Diamond” in Japan and Southeast Asia, bamboo charcoal fibre use is an emerging   trend  in the  fashion  industry as manufacturers look to combine fashion with function.

Green Earth News previously wrote about the many gains of bamboo charcoal so it must come as no surprise that those positive aspects extend to the fabric made from bamboo. The charcoal is created by heating bamboo at temperatures of 800 degrees and then the charcoal itself is processed and mixed in with fabrics as part of the growing field of nanotechnology.

Nanotechnology is defined as the “understanding, manipulation, and control of matter at the length mentioned above, thus, the physical, chemical, and biological properties of materials (individual atoms, molecules, and bulk matter) might be engineered, synthesized, or altered to develop the next generation of improved materials, devices, structures, and systems.” Hence, textile attributes for instance softness, durability, water resistance and breath-ability may be enhanced with the use of Nanotechnology.

The several positive features of bamboo charcoal fabric include:

Easier on sensitive skin – The fabric inhibits bacterial metabolism causing fewer allergic skin reactions than other fibers sterilized with antimicrobial agents.

Reduces Static buildup – This is really a conductive material so it keeps a balanced charge in fabric to reduce static buildup.

Superior Washing and Durability – Bamboo charcoal fibers are quick-drying and because the charcoal nano particles are embedded in the fabric rather than simply coated onto the surface, the fabric may be washed numerous times with no adverse effect on the charcoal qualities.

Moisture Regulation – Bamboo charcoal yarn has a cross-section filled with various micro-gaps and micro-holes so compared to conventional fabrics, it is better at moisture absorption and ventilation. The fabric keeps the wearer dry and comfortable on hot days.

While the bamboo fabric technology is still relatively new, only gaining momentum in Asia from the mid-1990s, its uses are growing widespread ranging from clothing to carpeting to bedding. As they look towards more environmentally friendly fabrics that offer the same feel and durability of synthetic fabrics, bamboo charcoal is often a surprising but strong contender.

Another fine contender stemming from the world’s most renewable resource – bamboo – is viscose from bamboo fabric, offering a wide selection of  fashion   trends  from bamboo clothing to bedspreads, baby blankets to luxurious bath towels.

Fashion – Mode Of Expression

Fashion is a term that usually applies to a prevailing mode of expression, but quite often applies to a personal mode of expression that may or may not apply to all. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. Fashions are social phenomena common to many fields of human activity and thinking. Fashion design is the applied art dedicated to the design of clothing and lifestyle accessories created within the cultural and social influences of a specific time.

Dress

The rises and falls of fashions have been especially documented and examined in the following fields: Architecture, interior design, and landscape design Arts and crafts Body type, clothing or costume, cosmetics, grooming, hair style, and personal adornment Dance and music Forms of address, slang, and other forms of speech Economics and spending choices, as studied in behavioral finance Entertainment, games, hobbies, sports, and other pastimes Etiquette Management, management styles and ways of organizing Politics and media, especially the topics of conversation encouraged by the media Philosophy and spirituality (One might argue that religion is prone to fashions, although official religions tend to change so slowly that the term cultural shift is perhaps more appropriate than “fashion”)Social networks and the diffusion of representations and practices Sociology and the meaning of clothing for identity-building Technology, such as the choice of programming techniques. The more general term “costume” has been relegated by many to only mean fancy dress or masquerade wear, while the term “fashion” means clothing generally, and the study of it. “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only.

Wear

The more general term “costume” has been relegated by many to only mean fancy dress or masquerade wear, while the term “fashion” means clothing generally, and the study of it. A modern version of exotic clothing includes club wear. At this time in fashion history the division between haute couture and ready-to-wear was not sharply defined. Nonetheless, many ready-to-wear, and even mass market labels, claim to produce haute couture, when in fact, according to established standards, they do not. Ready-to-wear collections are usually presented by fashion houses each season during a period known as Fashion Week. Ready-to-wear One-of-a-kind fashion, This is where an item of clothing or fashion is specifically made for a person or persons or a one off piece of fashion to be sold in a shop or on the internet, a website that sells one of a kind fashion items can be found at [1], this is an online store specializing in one of a kind designer clothing and fashion.

Fashion design differs from costume design due to its core product having a built in obsolescence usually of one to two seasons. Fashion design is generally considered to have started in the 19th century with Charles Frederick Worth who was the first person to sew their label into the garments that they created. Fashion won’t work its magic if you’re not, writes Janice BreenBurns. Fashion per se equals faddism, and promoting more consumption.

What Kind Of Coat Do You Need

How many coats does a women need? In the 1950s, a woman needed at least five coats: a winter coat, a coat for spring and fall, a summer coat, a raincoat, and an evening coat. The emphasis is on the words “at least” because any one who could afford it owned these coats in several colors, styles and fabrics. As a result wardrobes were full of coats because every season women bought new clothes that need new matching coats.

The modern woman has fewer coats although she would prefer to have more. But because she often wears jackets it makes no sense to have a special coat for every occasion and certainly not every recreational activity. Nevertheless, a well-equipped wardrobe should contain apart from changing   fashion   trends  and personal preferences, at least the following kinds of coats: a dark wool coat for business that can also be worn in the evening, a second, this time brown, wool coat that can be used for the office, smart casual and relaxed weekends, and a light raincoat for rainy weather.

What about the length? Ever since skirts became knee-length in the 1920s, ankle-length coats have not been necessary. They come back into fashion now and again but they do not play a major part in the classic wardrobe. But although ankles no longer need to be covered, the coat must always be longer than the skirt to prevent the creation of an unintentional layered look. The most suitable and versatile is the fairly straight, below the knee length coat, but the very straight version of the mini era and short coat of the 1990s are also very popular. Women who wear trousers have more choice so far as length is concerned, in that they can follow the fashion or their own taste.

Coats are the most versatile items in a wardrobe because they have to go with almost everything. Those who only wear red or who never venture out in anything but black will naturally need a red or black coat. Everyone else will prefer a neutral shade such as beautiful beige or a light charcoal. Patterns should be used with caution unless they are the traditional, classic ones, and even these cannot be wholeheartedly recommended. Although patterns such as herringbone, dog’s tooth check and pepita have been popular for decades, like all patterns they restrict the possibilities of combination. Structured fabrics are an alternative for those who want to avoid plain fabrics. These provide a more interesting surface texture but do not distract with loud patterns or too many colors.
